Set in mid-1930's rural Tennessee, a drifter named Ocie Hedgepath returns to his hometown after learning of the murders of his sister and her infant son.
Through pretense and guile, he gains entrance to the jail cell of the confessed killer awaiting hanging.
Disguised as a preacher and set on revenge, he navigates and manipulates the sheriff’s deputy keeping guard, and an angry mob hot for vigilante justice.
It’s a story of a race against time for two lives on a collision course with destiny - a story of shock, loss, redemption, and forgiveness.
THE LAST DAYS OF BUSTER DRUMWRIGHT is a musical based on a story by Jesse Hill Ford. It originally was a one-hour teleplay that aired on CBS TV in 1960. Later, the author expanded it into a two-act stage play.
